Her family history is associated with Samurai bloodline and traditions, where Posture reflects the balance/imbalance of a person’s Being –thus covering the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects of Life.
Until now, Makiko continues to explore the Posture Balance of Life and Health. Her Body=Mind=Soul journey started in the mid-1990’s with the physical aspects as a performing member of the Martha Graham Dance Company, which led her to become a successful Pilates Instructor - Before founding NHA. Back then, she realized how her physical limitations were causing certain emotional instability, as well as impacting her daily life beyond muscular-skeletal boundaries. In parallel, she also became aware of her shifting psychological patterns, and obtained certifications in Ericsonian Hypnosis, NLP, Past-Regression Therapy, spiritual counseling and reading, and Entity Clearing. Since 2013, Makiko has been a GAPS Diet practitioner. And she was the initiator and driving force behind the Japanese translation of Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride’s book titled “Gut and Psychology Syndrome” (Nov 2010 edition – Maple Press – York, PA).
Her blending of personal Self-Realization experiences and Professional initiatives has allowed Makiko to evolve and enhance her Posture Balance/Makiko Method approach- to present day.
Makiko Oka-Castro also holds a Bachelors of Arts in Drama Study from Nihon University in Tokyo, and a Masters of Arts in Dance Education from New York University in New York City.
